Magnolia from cuttings

With all the lovely magnolias flowering atm is it possible to grow them from cuttings has anyone tried this and when is the best time to do it. thanks

Slow process    Take cuttings of deciduous mags when new growth is firm enough  say dec  (cut out soft tip) leave 2 leaves and reduce these by half   use medium hormone say 5 ppmillion  ( short one cm shallow wound)  keep air humid around cuttings ie mist or closed chamber (big poly box with propagation mix) with perspex or glass lid ....good light but no direct sun
    when rooted keep until following spring and pot on when new growth just starts
