Birds Nest Fern
« on: October 01, 2016, 11:13:02 AM »
Has anyone successfully grown these in an area prone to frost?

I ask because on a recent trip to the Australian Botanic Gardens in Canberra, I saw they had many huge magnificent specimens.  Knowing that Canberra gets many hard frosts, I am wondering what's going on? Could it be that the gardens are on a slope and therefore the frost runs down to the valley. ?

I reckon you are on the money there, neely. Natural habitat is rainforest canopies, which i m sure are frost-free.

we have them growing here where we live with no problems , the frosts don't seem to bother them
