Anyone know this pumpkin variety?
« on: July 03, 2017, 11:26:58 PM »
I bought a seed mix from diggers a few years ago I think called 'pumpkins of the world'. One variety I grew last summer is particularly tasty and I'm hoping someone might know what it is. From searching the net for pictures I thought it might be Lakota however not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Bender

Have a look on this site
Almost sure you find it there
To compare:
Golden Hubbard glatt (Cucurbita maxima)
American variety, that was introduced in the USA in 1898.
Plant: vine;
Fruits: variably bulbous, pointed at both ends; Size (DxL): 20 - 40 cm x 30 - 50 cm; Flesh: dark yellow to orange, firm, thick; fine-grained, sweet, dry, excellent quality; Use: for soups, purées, gnocchi, risotto, gratins und soufflés, for stuffing and preserving;

My first post,  so hello everyone.

I'd noticed this post before and was just flicking through the Diggers catalogue from last year and saw this so thought I would let you know.

I'm really quite new to gardening, but they look similar to me, and if you got it from Diggers before, it would heighten the chances of it being the same variety if they still sell it. I suppose you could even shoot Diggers an email.

Hi Frumpyducky

Not sure how you are uploading (size) but it's impossible to see it on my screen
It looks blown up giant
Are you using an other up-loading program ?
Is it this picture below from Diggers Lacota ?

Hi there. I am using the tapatalk app on my phone and taking pictures from within the app. They turn up fine when I view the thread on my phone. I will try again when I have a bit more time.
