Brussells Sprouts
« on: October 01, 2017, 12:11:19 PM »
The seedlings I planted months ago have grown well. But the two tallest are starting to flower on top, will the tiny sprouts in the leaf axils get any bigger? Or are they done for now?
Comments from any Sprout growers will be most appreciated.

Penny.

I would think they might be done. I had a similar thing with my kohl rabi, another brassica. Had a couple great ones, then two more flowered and went to seed, without growing to full size. The warmer weather I think.

Take the flowers out  of the tops of those two plants.  Advisable to remove central growing point out of the tops of the others as well, this will increase the size of the sprouts left forming on the stems.  the weather will determine if the remaining sprouts develop properly or not.

Thanks to you both. I've pinched out the tops, hope to get some sprouts to enjoy.
