How did the trees die?
« on: October 12, 2017, 10:30:46 PM »

I had two trees in the front yard they seem to have died recently. I am trying to find out why this happen. Here are a few things I think may cause the issue:
- There is another plant in the front having black leaves which look very sick. Does this sick plant cause the trees dead? Again why are there black leaves?
- The tap timer wasn't working between May-Sep while I was away and the plants didn't get much water except for the rain. It was really dry in Brisbane in Sep.
- I installed an aircon in Apr and the compressor is behind the trees. Did the compressor blowing wind kill the trees and plants? There is some distance between the compressor and the trees though.
- Is it just because they caught some disease?

I don't know much about gardening and it's sad to see this happen. Any help/hint will be much appreciated. Last photo was last year, green and healthy.

Really hard to see. The black leaves look like sooty mould. Looks like a combination of things lead to decline.  Aircon will blow hot wind on the ferns I guess and dry them ??
Sooty mould normally from sap sucking insects excreting honey dew. Quite often ants will be seen too
